    My personal style is open, honest, and non-judgmental. I know that therapy can be hard and quite scary. I hope that together, we can work to navigate the challenges that come up to find conclusions about any discord you experience and work towards living a life in line with your values and goals. My therapeutic practice utilizes the modalities of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and person centered treatment. I strive to create a supportive and safe place for people to discuss and examine their inner-most thoughts and feelings. My experience is working with those who suffer from anxiety, depression, substance and/or process addiction, grief & loss, trauma, mood disorders and family struggles.

    I have a passion for helping people understand that symptoms of depression, anxiety and other disorders are only a part of who we are. They do not define us. If you have a loved one suffering from addiction or mental illness, You deserve recovery too. Proper education is the key to understanding what your loved ones are going through. I believe in an integrated approach to therapy and offer interventions most appropriate to the individual/ family. Most common practices include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Psycho-dynamic Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention Therapy and Strengths Based. It would be my privilege to help you take steps to a healthier way a living.

    I have 23 years of experience working with individuals with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, continued support for substance use disorder recovery, stress, support through fertility concerns, relationship issues, family struggles, and more. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults while utilizing a genuine, empathetic, and supportive approach. Modalities most commonly used include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, client-centered therapy, and strength-based therapy. After hearing what you want to work on, I’ll assist you in setting reasonable and attainable goals. It is important for me to meet you where you are at in your journey and help you identify, explore, and problem-solve what you need right now. Our goal, together, will be to transition short-term goals into long-term relief from symptoms.

    My style includes utilizing a warm and empathetic approach in therapy and meeting my clients where they are at. I believe that successful therapy happens after forming a solid foundation between the therapist and the client. Additionally, learning to use healthy humor can be one of the most beneficial and healing things we can do for ourselves. My experience includes working with teens, young adults, and adults with anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, body image and self-esteem concerns. Most common practices used include cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure response prevention therapy and strengths-based therapy. It's not always easy to seek out help, but my goal is to create a safe and inviting space for you to express your full, authentic self.

  • Kanesha Walker-Amaro, LPC

    Since 2017, I have worked with a variety of clients struggling with a range of treatment issues including, but not limited to, trauma, depression, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, substance use disorder, grief, and anger management. I have worked with clients as young as five years of age, however most of my clients have been adolescents and young adults. Most recently, I have worked in a space intentionally using theater as a therapeutic tool for teenagers on the West-side of Chicago. As a therapist, I aim to collaborate with clients and assist with driving a healthy narrative and relying on their own skills and strengths. I believe in providing a healthy, non-blaming, safe space for clients to process their thoughts and feelings and encourage personal growth.

    My aim as a therapist is to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to approach change. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults struggling with substance use disorder, depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, co-occurring disorders, and other difficult areas of life. I have spent the last 18 years in the field helping individuals, couples, and families navigate issues from communication and boundaries to psychiatric hospitalization and substance abuse treatment. I incorporate cognitive behavioral, dialectical, mindfulness, solution-focused, and narrative therapies.

  • Kelsey Johnson, LSW

    Offering in-person and telehealth services to kids, teens and adults

    My experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults. I also enjoy working with the LGBTQIA+ population, as I am passionate about supporting this community by being an advocate for equality and inclusion. I have worked with many clients experiencing negative symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, emotional regulation, stress, grief and many more. Together, we will work to explore these challenges to break down these emotions and better understand what they mean. I use a wide range of therapeutic modalities which includes CBT, MBCT, motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, DBT, SFBT, and play therapy techniques for my younger clients. As a therapist, I provide a welcoming, honest, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment. It is my goal to help clients obtain and identify their strengths by increasing their self-awareness for a better emotional/mental well-being while also reframing negative thinking to more positive thoughts with the incorporation of coping skills.
